A Belleville-ite asked me why the library had no facebook. So I made one.

Since it’s a facebook for an organization and not a person, I can’t add anyone. That means I need YOU to add your facebook to ours!

shoot me an email if you tried and CAN’T get it to work, because I have no way of testing it. thanks. —-> my email is jps email

Children’s Room Wii Number!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Hi bloggers,

Our library purchased a Wii, and we would like to be your Wii friend.

Our Wii number is 1620 2677 3539 1955. Please email me your Wii number, so I can add you back. Remember, we can’t communicate via the Wii unless we both add each other!

We will be purchasing a second Wii for our Teen room, so make sure to check back so you can add the Teen Room as well!

And don’t forget to come out to Just A Party on Sep 13th to check out the Belleville Public Library table: We will have two large (free!) video gaming stations for Guitar Hero and Wii Sports, as well as on-the-spot library card sign ups, giveaways, and most importantly, Me!

National Library Week.

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

We have lots of great programs coming up here at the library for National Library Week (April 16-21).

There are two that I am running that I’d really like you guys to attend:

For the older crowd (teens+up), Open Mic Night on Tuesday April 17 at 7 pm.

For the younger crowd (kids+stuffed animal) we are having our annual Teddy Bear Tea on Saturday April 21st at 2pm.

Call 973 450 3434 and ask for JP (me!) for more info on either of those.

enjoy

I, Too, Sing America

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Here’s a clip from our wildly successful first Open Mic Night. It’s the Langston Hughes poem “I, Too, Sing America”, and it’s performed by our security guard Cliff (who is unfortunaly leaving our staff - today is his last day).

Enjoy, and don’t forget Tuesday April 17th at 7pm will be our next open mic.

Open Mic Night

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

On Tuesday March 20th (that’s a week from today) we are having Open Mic Night here at the library.

If you don’t know what an open mic night is, people take turns going up to the stage to sing, read poetry, or perform other general acts of human expression.

Both the American Library Association and the New Jersey Library Association see libraries as the stronghold for our constitutionally protected freedom of speech, and what better way to celebrate free speech than having a night FOR open speech and expression?

Laura made a facebook event for it, click here to join, and I made a myspace ’show’ for it, click here to add to your myspace calendar!

Hope to see you there. The event is at 7 pm in the meeting room.
