for those of you voters in nj, good news. if you aren’t registered to a party, you can still vote in the upcoming “super tuesday” primary on Feb 5th. here’s the link
also, we are going to start open mics. i’ll post the dates up soon.
hey bloggers
1) Rafa is having a coat drive and toy drive and we have boxes here at the library. People are dropping off coats but no toys. come on guys!
2) Rafa is also having an open mic on saturday in Nutley at the Red Cross from 3-7. $3 to get in, it is for charity and you know the library supports charities, and JP aka ME will be playing after 5pm (I work at the library from 9-5).
3) We are going to be having our FREE open mic nights at the library again once a month on Tuesday nights. We just need to work out the details and I’ll let you guys know.
4) If you are in a BAND, i want you to play at said open mic night here at the library, so, get at me or mike infusino.
5) I want to have 100 myspace friends from belleville. please spread the word in a bulletin. our url —> myspace.com/bellepl
6) happy christmas (25th), kwanza (26th), and then new years (1st!).
Hi bloggers, here’s a few updates:
Thanks to everybody who joined us at the library booth during “Just A Party” last week. It was a really good time for everyone involved. I uploaded a picture taken by library board member Tom McCrohan and i’ll have a whole gallery up in a few days’ time.
The Teen room AND the Children’s room now have a Wii. Email me your Wii number and i’ll add you and email you back with BOTH of our numbers. Then we can trade Miis!
Have you guys seen the Q&ANJ commercial that was shown during the ‘07 MTV music awards? It is, surprisingly, entertaining. Usually these types of videos are a bit stale. This video is a bit stale, our video response to it is less stale.
Speaking of videos, the state library is holding a contest. Read more about it at www.njlibraries.org and click on the contest link. Ryan, i’m looking in your direction. I hope some Belleville people enter, and I am going to make sure that our community has a presence during the contest voting period!
thanks bloggers! - JP

Come to the library Saturday May 5th for Free Comic Book Day. The Belleville Library partnered with the NJ State Library and Comic Explosion for this event.
Our little town of Belleville shares a (rather large) park with the city of Newark. In Branch Brook Park, there’s a huge amount of Japanese cherry blossom trees, and we here in Belleville consider ourselves the “Cherry Blossom Capital of America.”
Every year there is a spring celebration of the Cherry Blossoms in Branch Brook Park, with events spanning many days. The library used to be present at the Sunday Cherry Blossom Festival event every year, and I am pleased to announce that we will be returning to the Cherry Blossom Festival this year. Check out our table on Sunday April 22nd, and enjoy the cherry blossom trees! We will have a selection of library materials celebrating Japanese-American culture at our table, and I’ll be there the whole day to chat with you and enjoy the trees as well. I hope to see you there.
We have lots of great programs coming up here at the library for National Library Week (April 16-21).
There are two that I am running that I’d really like you guys to attend:
For the older crowd (teens+up), Open Mic Night on Tuesday April 17 at 7 pm.
For the younger crowd (kids+stuffed animal) we are having our annual Teddy Bear Tea on Saturday April 21st at 2pm.
Call 973 450 3434 and ask for JP (me!) for more info on either of those.
enjoy
Hi bloggers! Last month I got some people together to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Nutley. It was a huge success; one of the largest parades I’ve seen in this area. We took photos of the event, which I posted on the library webpage: click here to view them.
Special thanks goes out to the parade commitee, specifically Danielle Carlo and Patty Santelli.
enjoy.
Here’s a clip from our wildly successful first Open Mic Night. It’s the Langston Hughes poem “I, Too, Sing America”, and it’s performed by our security guard Cliff (who is unfortunaly leaving our staff - today is his last day).
Enjoy, and don’t forget Tuesday April 17th at 7pm will be our next open mic.
