Just A Party / Teen Room Wii Number / YouTube Videos / Contest

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

Hi bloggers, here’s a few updates:

Thanks to everybody who joined us at the library booth during “Just A Party” last week. It was a really good time for everyone involved. I uploaded a picture taken by library board member Tom McCrohan and i’ll have a whole gallery up in a few days’ time.

The Teen room AND the Children’s room now have a Wii. Email me your Wii number and i’ll add you and email you back with BOTH of our numbers. Then we can trade Miis!

Have you guys seen the Q&ANJ commercial that was shown during the ‘07 MTV music awards? It is, surprisingly, entertaining. Usually these types of videos are a bit stale. This video is a bit stale, our video response to it is less stale.

Speaking of videos, the state library is holding a contest. Read more about it at www.njlibraries.org and click on the contest link. Ryan, i’m looking in your direction. I hope some Belleville people enter, and I am going to make sure that our community has a presence during the contest voting period!

thanks bloggers! - JP

I, Too, Sing America

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Here’s a clip from our wildly successful first Open Mic Night. It’s the Langston Hughes poem “I, Too, Sing America”, and it’s performed by our security guard Cliff (who is unfortunaly leaving our staff - today is his last day).

Enjoy, and don’t forget Tuesday April 17th at 7pm will be our next open mic.

Our Three Favorite Things About The Library!

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

There is currently a NJ library advocacy campaign with the topic “What are your three reasons?”. They are posting comments and videos related about that topic over at this youtube channel. So, I decided to make a video to go along with it. It’s a video of mashed-up footage of patrons having fun at the library. It was shot right here in Essex County NJ, in the Belleville and South Orange Libraries!

Nancy Dowd, the marketing director at the NJ State Library, enjoyed the video so much she posted it on her blog.
