Just A Party / Teen Room Wii Number / YouTube Videos / Contest

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

Hi bloggers, here’s a few updates:

Thanks to everybody who joined us at the library booth during “Just A Party” last week. It was a really good time for everyone involved. I uploaded a picture taken by library board member Tom McCrohan and i’ll have a whole gallery up in a few days’ time.

The Teen room AND the Children’s room now have a Wii. Email me your Wii number and i’ll add you and email you back with BOTH of our numbers. Then we can trade Miis!

Have you guys seen the Q&ANJ commercial that was shown during the ‘07 MTV music awards? It is, surprisingly, entertaining. Usually these types of videos are a bit stale. This video is a bit stale, our video response to it is less stale.

Speaking of videos, the state library is holding a contest. Read more about it at www.njlibraries.org and click on the contest link. Ryan, i’m looking in your direction. I hope some Belleville people enter, and I am going to make sure that our community has a presence during the contest voting period!

thanks bloggers! - JP

2007 Cherry Blossom Festival

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Our little town of Belleville shares a (rather large) park with the city of Newark. In Branch Brook Park, there’s a huge amount of Japanese cherry blossom trees, and we here in Belleville consider ourselves the “Cherry Blossom Capital of America.”

Every year there is a spring celebration of the Cherry Blossoms in Branch Brook Park, with events spanning many days. The library used to be present at the Sunday Cherry Blossom Festival event every year, and I am pleased to announce that we will be returning to the Cherry Blossom Festival this year. Check out our table on Sunday April 22nd, and enjoy the cherry blossom trees! We will have a selection of library materials celebrating Japanese-American culture at our table, and I’ll be there the whole day to chat with you and enjoy the trees as well. I hope to see you there.
