Dragonflight, Dragonquest, White Dragon by Anne McCaffrey

July 24th, 2007 by teenblogger

These three books chronicle the adventures of the heroes of Pern. Pern was a human colony that faced extinction from the dreaded Thread - mychorrizoid spores that destroyed any living matter. Their salvation turned out to be fire lizards that they enlarged and called dragons, after the Earth legends long forgotten. These Dragons impressed telepathic people a their partners for life. Together, these heroes fought the deadly Thread, keeping the planet Pern safe for the people. This is a fast paced trilogy that has an excellent plot. Unfortunately, the story moved too quick for the characters to develop properly - even after over 750 pages. However, those who like Dragons and a fast-paced epic adventure will love this book. — Roshan

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

July 24th, 2007 by teenblogger

This last book in the Harry Potter series was well worth waiting for - and is worth its weight in galleons! I loved reading this book and coud not put it down! Through all the twists and turnsm J. K. Rowling managed to tie together all the lose ends from the previous book. Although there were many sad deaths, she managed to convey a necessity and a closure for every one. She came through, and the result was a wonderful, thrilling, and breathtaking book. —Roshan

Let’s hope this is true

Teen Room

June 26th, 2007 by jporcaro

The teen room is OPEN now. During the school year, the teen room hours are 3-5pm. During July and August, the hours are 1-5. I hope to see you guys come out.

We play Runescape in there every day, my name in it is Player20055. We also either watch TV or play Wii. Soon we will have books, graphic novels, clubs, movie days, game tournaments, book discussions, lots of stuff going on…

We also have a myspace for the library over at myspace.com/bellepl. A few of us in the teen room already joined, feel free to add us! We are nothing compared to the Wadsworth Ohio teen room myspace that I saw on the American Library Association’s myspace page, but we are trying!

2007 Cherry Blossom Festival

April 11th, 2007 by jporcaro

Our little town of Belleville shares a (rather large) park with the city of Newark. In Branch Brook Park, there’s a huge amount of Japanese cherry blossom trees, and we here in Belleville consider ourselves the “Cherry Blossom Capital of America.”

Every year there is a spring celebration of the Cherry Blossoms in Branch Brook Park, with events spanning many days. The library used to be present at the Sunday Cherry Blossom Festival event every year, and I am pleased to announce that we will be returning to the Cherry Blossom Festival this year. Check out our table on Sunday April 22nd, and enjoy the cherry blossom trees! We will have a selection of library materials celebrating Japanese-American culture at our table, and I’ll be there the whole day to chat with you and enjoy the trees as well. I hope to see you there.
